Seeking solutions

The decrease in water levels has been raised repeatedly by villagers. Teri, a leading environmental group, says Coca-Cola should consider relocating or closing its plant.

The firm has responded by restoring two ancient step wells, or bawaris, as they are called locally. Kamlesh Sharma, senior manager of Coca-Cola India, says the solution is not to run away. He wants to work with farming communities and the government to reduce the amount of water used.
