In pictures: Life among Thai protesters

The old palace which the protesters occupy was built by King Rama VI for the king's closest privy councillor. But 60 years ago the government acquired it and since then it has housed the government.

Now this grand example of Italianate architecture has become home for another new force in Thai politics - the PAD protesters, who saw Mr Thaksin out of office and now look like they have dispatched another prime minister.
