'Too late'

Joseph Wani Cirillo runs the basic clinic at the edge of the village.

He has also suffered from leprosy, losing a leg and some mobility in his fingers. But now, after taking a free multi-drug treatment, he is completely cured.

"I went for the treatment too late, so I lost my leg and have 'closed' fingers," he said.

"I'm not taking any more drugs now, but I can't replace my leg."
