		Beating adversity The women in Ganta are trying to overcome myriad disadvantages and create a future for themselves. They grew up knowing nothing but war. More than 90% are illiterate, mainly because their formal schooling was interrupted for so long. With an unemployment rate of 85%, the highest in the world, opportunities for young Liberian women are scarce. Liberian girls are also vulnerable to sexual assault, teenage pregnancy and early marriage.
