Poisoning

During the 15 minutes it takes to process the HIV test, Joseph counsels his client about HIV-related illnesses.

He explains that coughing is often a symptom of tuberculosis.

“In the past, the Basotho people had a misconception about TB. They thought it was this traditional form of poisoning, Sejeso, when someone had been poisoned by someone else."

But he says belief in such curses were before anyone knew of TB or HIV.
