Joseph runs group counselling sessions for HIV-positive patients about to be prescribed ARVs.
“My work and personal life are interrelated,” he says.
“When I tell my patients to take the ARVs to feel better, they trust me because I am living by example.
“I tell them to be very committed to taking the ARVs, and not stop because of side-effects.
“I also tell them to try to stop all the things that can be hazardous for the body – like smoking and drinking.”
