Rebel future

Some rebels have benefited from the crisis.

New Forces leader Guillaume Soro is now prime minister in the power-sharing government and some commanders own property and businesses like night clubs and hotels.

For those lower down the scale the future is uncertain. If the peace process continues, a handful will be integrated into a new national army while others will go through a programme of disarmament and reintegration.
