In pictures: Ivory Coast's taxing task
Teachers fled

The Lycee Modern II high school has benefited from the recent arrival of qualified teachers from the south.

“The head has 80 staff to manage and more than 2,000 students to look after without a budget,” vice-principal Souleymane Tchemassa Kone says.

“It’s the parents who’ve suffered in this crisis - they’ve made contributions so that we can work.”

During the crisis most children were taught by young unqualified volunteers after teachers fled.
