Emmanuel is tidying the future triumphal avenue, which will link the new national assembly to the new presidential palace.

"Of course we’re proud to be working here. We hope to build the Bank of the South here as well,” he says, referring to an idea proposed by President Laurent Gbagbo to create a bank to fight world poverty.

Next to the road, bulldozers clear space for an ambitious Senate building, despite the fact that the country does not have a Senate.
