Twenty-five years after being named Ivory Coast's new capital, construction work is being stepped up to make Yamoussoukro a real city. The small central town was the birthplace of the first President, Felix Houphouet-Boigny.
It is 20 times smaller than the former capital, Abidjan, still the country's economic and political centre.
The first building to be completed is the Parliamentary Hotel, soon to become a second home for MPs.
