In pictures: Food crisis in northern Nigeria

Fifteen-year-old Mohammed Mu’azu (centre) arrived in Kano two weeks ago from his village in neighbouring Jigawa State.

"We have no food at home, and I was sent here to bring back money for my family,” he says.

”The food situation is much worse than last year.”

He says that he also hopes to be able to attend Koranic school and learn a trade.
