Pascal Nguinissara, 55, also remembers difficult times: "We ran for our lives.
"One of the biggest problems was access to water so there was a lot of diarrhoea and worms.
"When we returned, nothing was as we had left it. Some people had buried and hidden their belongings but even all of these had disappeared.
"Living in the bush was worse for those who were already vulnerable. Elderly people died and several pregnant women miscarried or lost their babies soon after giving birth."
