Bare feet

The ICRC helped build the school latrines but as Chief Bouca explains the village had to get 1,500 bricks:

"This was a problem, because although we know how to make bricks, we couldn't bake them properly, so we had a meeting to ask all the parents to help pay. Some were able to straight away, but most we had to wait until they'd sold enough cassava or chopped wood.

"Now we have the latrines it is a big difference. Before they would go in the bush in their bare feet and pick up parasites."
