In pictures: Darfur horse festival

Evening entertainment

There was music in the evening for the tribal leaders and spectators.

The festival attracted prominent cultural figures such as Abd ar-Rahman Abdullah, a wildly popular singer from neighbouring Kordofan, nicknamed the “Frank Sinatra of western Sudan”.

Also at the festival was the poet Mohammed Taha al-Gadal, whose lyrical verses called for peace and reconciliation.
