Trucks filled with rubbish make trips all morning to the enormous King Tom dump, which sprawls out like an ocean, filled with wave after wave of rubbish.

As men shovel the dirt, elderly women pick through it to find anything worth salvaging.

"I get small small money for it," says Fatimata Mansaray (right), who looks for pillow and cushion stuffing from the leftover plastic and material she finds.

"But it works."
