The plastic bottles are taken to one of a number of firms including The Recycling Company in Port Talbot.
Here they are hand sorted, shredded and baled.
The bales are then sold to firms either in the UK or abroad, depending on who offers the best price at the time.
Roydon Holdings is one such firm. The bales go to its Rochdale plant, where they are heated and turned into pellets. These are then sold on to companies who make things like carrier bags, bin bags and builder’s film.
