The bags are taken to a "materials recovery facility” in Aberdare, about 12 miles away.
Richard separates the waste in his bags – but actually he does not need to as they are sorted at the facility.
The plastics, cardboard and paper are hand-separated, while the steel is separated by magnet and the aluminium by current.
The green waste is taken off for composting at the site. It is later used by the council for local parks and landscaping.
