In pictures: Recycling in Bradford
Too much green

The glass is kept in its separate colours – clear, brown and green – and then mechanically cleaned and crushed into pound-coin size pieces or cullet.

All the clear and brown cullet and about 90% of the green is sent a few miles away to Rockware Glass.

But, Glass Recycling says, because of the huge amount of green glass entering the UK as wine bottles, not all of it can be re-melted for re-use within the country.

So it has to find “other uses” for the remaining 10% or so.
