In pictures: Indian rail journeys

Every year, Zahir Ansari and his family head home to their village in Bijnore, in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Ansari lives in Mumbai. He works in a small family-run shop. Like many people in the city, he is a migrant and has few relatives here. So going home once a year is important.
