An exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society in London throws new light on the British presence in Afghanistan through rare photographs and documentary material. From Kabul to Kandahar (1833-1933) covers the period of the three Anglo-Afghan wars.

Journals and diaries from British travellers reveal how repeated attempts to invade this fiercely independent region failed, largely because of resistance from tribesmen determined to protect their ancient culture and lands.
