Sherifa helps her mother-in-law, Shamma, in the kitchen. Shamma is one of the best cooks in the village. "My duck and stuffed cabbages are the best," Shamma laughs.
Sherifa helps Shamma whenever she can. "She really prays for me and my girls. Helping her is also a good deed and these are rewarded in the afterlife."
Sherifa is becoming more devout. Her father never required her to pray or wear the veil. But now she prays and fasts, and she encourages her girls to do the same.
