The same year, he designed the Boa Vista Bank in Rio. Its sinuous walls, made extensively of glass for light and strength, sum up his approach to designing buildings - it is open and curvy with spaces made from simple shapes.

For this fluid form of modernism suited both reinforced concrete - cheaper than the glass and steel favoured by Le Corbusier's more rigid form of modernism - and the Brazilian temperament.
