In pictures: One Day in Latvia

A Russian Orthodox priest, in an Old Believers’ graveyard, in Preili region, eastern Latvia.

The Old Believers moved here from Russia in the late 17th Century, during the reign of Tsar Peter the Great and still form a close-knit community.

Photographer Aivars Liepins has been taking pictures of them for 30 years. He was also in this region for One Day in Latvia in 1987.

He says: "People don’t change. It's just that the background they stand against is different."
