In pictures: Life in Stanley

There are many reminders of 1982, including a road named after Margaret Thatcher, the British prime minister during the conflict.

The UK garrison that has remained since is accepted as part of the community, and local funds are put into building some houses and facilities at their base, RAF Mount Pleasant, 56 km from Stanley.

Other than the military personnel and their families, a further 500 people are in the Falklands to do work connected to the base.
