Rewarding work

All Falklands education follows the UK curriculum. Matthew started learning about 3D shapes the previous day, and already he is reeling off "cuboid" and "square-based pyramid" as Wendy passes him the wooden shapes.

"It’s so intense when I am here, in five afternoons of science I can cover what I would do in half a term at conventional school," says Wendy, 58.

"It's the most rewarding job I have ever done; you’re working one-to-one and you can really see the progress."
