In pictures: Class of one

Susie Hansen, 45, grew up on Pebble Island – off the north coast of West Falkland – and never went to a conventional school.

She married her husband Ian a year before the 1982 conflict. During the war they were among 23 people held captive on the island by the Argentines for a month.

Ian is a local councillor and spends a lot of time in Stanley. The role helps bring in additional income, something most Falkland farmers need because of low wool prices.
