Total isolation

The Hansens' 18,000 acre farm at Main Point is in the north of West Falkland, which can only be reached by plane or a long boat ride from Stanley, at least 80 miles away in East Falkland.

Tiny government-run twin-engine planes are a lifeline for the 127 islanders.

The island even has its own time zone, choosing to remain an hour behind Stanley in summertime.

This makes it one of the most isolated spots on the already remote Falklands, 8,000 miles from the UK.
