"I had just been to Downing Street on assignment and had time to spare, so I walked through an adjacent park to photograph some of the wildlife.

"While I was taking pictures of this pelican, it scooped up a pigeon being fed bread by tourists.

"For the next 30 minutes, the pigeon struggled to get out of the bird's enormous bill.

"Of the 100 or so frames I shot of the incident, this is the only one in which you can clearly see the pigeon in the pelican's bill. The pigeon didn't survive."
