Photo journal: Afro-Bolivian family

Alejandro and Teodora have one son living at home, Alexander, 13, and a grandson, Joel, 10.

Their grown-up daughter Jenny, and her baby daughter, Axcel, live in La Paz, but sometimes come to stay.

Another daughter, Joel's mother, died in childbirth eight years ago. She gave birth to a girl, Yasmila, who suffered severe brain damage, and lives with an aunt.

"There is no help. We have no wheelchair, so my sister has to carry her on her back," says Alejandro.
