Broadcasting House welcomed Royal visitors in its early days.

The Prince of Wales - who would later become King Edward VIII - saw the effects department in action in 1932.

His abdication speech from Windsor Castle would be broadcast by the BBC on 11 December 1936.

There was a family outing to the main control room in March 1939, when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth were joined by their daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret.
