Construction

A number of houses were demolished so construction could begin in 1928.

As Broadcasting House was to become the home of BBC Radio, 12 floors were planned - three underground - to hold all of the studios and offices.

The architect, Lieutenant Colonel G Val Meyer, had to alter his original design because people living nearby feared it would block the light into their homes.

The building is still in use today, housing networks such as Radio 4 and BBC7.
