In the last year many Americans have accepted the reality of global warming, and the demand for green vehicles has grown.

Toyota sells 100,000 Prius hybrids a year and is rolling the hybrid technology out across its entire range.

Both Ford and GM revealed electric-powered concept cars at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show, but they may be years away from mass production.
