Photo journal: Taiwan's broadband village
Traditional dance

The tiny village of Shanmei, in central Taiwan, has become the latest of the country’s remote spots to be supplied with a broadband internet connection.

The BBC’s Caroline Gluck was there to see the village’s moment of transformation.

Shanmei is home to about 700 people from the Tsou aboriginal tribe.

Youngsters wearing tribal clothes adorned with eagle feathers performed a traditional dance to techno music as the new computer equipment was installed.
