Snaring the poachers

Rangers have confiscated these wire snares, which poachers use to trap large mammals.

The forestry administration's senior project officer, Keo Sopheak, says that since the protected wilderness project started in 2004, poaching incidents have gone down significantly.

Rangers still have to keep on their toes. With such a large area of forest to patrol, Sopheak’s ranger teams can be outwitted by smart and persistent hunters from time to time.
