Peng Chunlan, from Shandong Province, runs a kiosk selling newspapers and magazines at the entrance to the Workers' Stadium, an Olympic venue.
She is proud that China is hosting the games because it shows the country can now be ranked among the best in the world.
But the 40-year-old added: "I don't know if I'll still be here next year. We're currently in negotiations about that at the moment.
"As long as we don't interfere with the events, I'll probably be allowed to stay."
