Although they rarely find a public voice, not everyone in Beijing is happy that the Olympics will be held in the capital.
Chinese teacher Liu Chenyan says: "I don't have any special feelings about the Olympics. I wouldn't be concerned if they weren't being held here."
There are other ways of expressing China’s rapid development, she says.
Despite that, the 28-year-old says she might watch the games on TV, or look in a newspaper to find out the results.
