Bicycle guard

Odalis Baez prefers working at home "not dependent on any boss".

She rears pigs in her backyard in Bayamo, 750km east of Havana, selling them for $30-$40.

Bicycles are Bayamo’s main means of transport. Odalis has just received permission to charge cyclists to look after their bicycles for 1 peso ($0.05) a time.

She earns about $15 a week, an average monthly salary for a state employee.
