In pictures: Bolivia's popular fairs

In Bolivia, the religious and popular beliefs of the Andean Aymara culture find expression in street markets, fairs and festivals across the country.

Among the most popular markets are the "alasitas" fairs which are usually set up in January. They specialise in miniature replicas of everyday objects that, according to popular belief, once bought and blessed will help acquire the real thing. The objects are then presented to Ekeko, the god of abundance.
