A group of Senegalese women has set up its own taxi firm to take on the men - and their notoriously old, dirty, and dangerous vehicles.

Alimata Samba, 26, is one of Dakar’s first female taxi drivers:

“I have been a member of the Taxi Sisters since we started in September 2007.

"There are 10 of us for the moment, stationed outside the big hotels.”
