In pictures: Rural hardship in Zimbabwe

During the holidays, their days are spent looking for firewood – their family's source of light and fuel.

Once that is done, football is the game of choice or they go fishing. If they have a lucky catch they will keep some for their household and then use the rest to barter.

The older teenagers look for petty jobs – gardening and weeding – in Harare.

Public transport is too pricey so they wake early and walk an hour and a half to get there - and then back again come nightfall.
