Christian village

The family gets by with the little they have and with help from their church and a local charity scheme.

It was in Chishawasha that Catholic missionaries set up their first so-called Christian village in 1891.

During the liberation struggle in the 1970s, the Jesuits supported the nationalist movement and Mr Mugabe was a frequent visitor to the area at one point.
