Resistance

Learning basic hygiene like washing hands before prayers is part of Islam but also teaches children about hygiene.

Parents are encouraged to get their children immunised and to become a school volunteer - and women are involved in making decisions about running the madrassa.

Most of the nurseries are attached to the local mosque. Initially there were objections from Imams since the curriculum was not solely based on learning the Koran, like at more traditional madrassas.
