Matthew Ntu'mirungu has cultivated the crop for about 10 years in Maua town, where the crop is widely grown.

"My father inherited this tree plantation from his parents and it's out of this production that he managed to pay for my education," he said.

At present, five acres of his land is covered by the trees and he also depends on it for his family's upkeep.
