A conductor sells tickets for the Benguela railway - originally built with British expertise to link Zambia's copper mines to Angola's Atlantic ports.

Now it is being rebuilt by the Chinese company CIF, restoring a vital lifeline to Angolan travellers and cargo.

Cynics however point out that the world's largest consumer of copper is none other than China itself.
