For many Sri Lankan tsunami victims - such as Madhu in Matara district - the trauma of two years ago has still not disappeared. On the "day of the giant waves" she was having breakfast when her father entered the house shouting "Run! Run!"

They were getting out of the house when a giant wave struck, forcing her father to let go of her hand. Madhu was left stranded in a giant tree for a "long time" and even now finds it difficult to talk about her experience.
