In pictures: Shillong drum rolls into the record books

One of the main problems faced by organisers of the event was to prove that the record had actually been broken.

This was done by giving each participant a ribbon so that everyone was individually accounted for to the satisfaction of an observer from Guinness World Records, who officially confirmed the Meghalayan record.
