In pictures: Indian postman

Come rain or shine, Rajendra Prasad climbs on to his bicycle six mornings a week to start his daily rounds.

Dressed in his khaki postman's uniform, and a colourful turban to beat the desert sun, Prasad goes delivering mail.

In the remote deserts of Rajasthan, postmen like Prasad are often the only link to the outside world.

To get to some villages one has to trek for miles, cross sand dunes or undertake a journey by camel.
