Photo journal: Harsh winter for tribal quake survivors

There is folklore about how the Shin tribe came here. Some say they came from Central Asia. Others say they descended from Alexander the Great.

They live where the two big continents collided millions of years ago - the place where the Karokoram, the Himalayas and the Hindu Kush meet.

It's a huge area with few inhabitants. Some parts are untouched by man. People here are determined to carry on with their lives and the earthquake hasn't shaken their attachment to the landscape.
