In pictures: Afghan schoolchildren
Shattered dreams

Many schools across southern Afghanistan, in the provinces of Zabul, Ghazni and Wardak, are coming under attack from the Taleban, forcing them to shut down.

Several have been burnt down.

These children say they are desperate to study and are now walking two hours every day to reach another school. "Education is very important for us and we don't want to miss this chance," they say.
