GPS dilemma

From Ilan Kelman, Colorado, US:

"This photograph was taken near Quito, Ecuador.

The orange line marks the alleged equator.

The GPS indicator suggests that it is close, but not exact.

The orange line, however, is likely to be within the margin of error of GPS, so either the GPS provides a precision better than its accuracy, or else the tourist centre was built where they had the land!"
